How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

 Award-Winning Author
& Former First Lady of Houston
ANDREA WHITE
will speak & sign her new YA novel,
Windows on the World.

Andrea White has written three novels, all historical fiction for middle-school students, and now embarks on a science fiction trilogy with the firs book in the series, Windows on the World.

Thirteen-year-old Shama Katooee hasn't had an easy life: an orphan, she must work and dodge gangs while attending Teleschool with millions of other children in LowCity, DC in 2083. One day her life turns upside down: she meets her best friend, a bird named Deenay, and is mysteriously selected to attend the Chronos Academy in UpCity, where privileged children of GodZillionaires are trained in the practice of Time Watch. Shama learns how to operate a QuanTime machine and how to get along with kids who come from very different backgrounds than her own. While trying to solve the mystery of why she was chosen, Shama is being trained for the ultimate mission: saving her own life.

Andrea White's previous novels include Surviving Antarctica, Window Boy, and Radiant Girl. In 2004, Surviving Antarctica was selected for many state reading lists, including the Texas Bluebonnet. In 2005 Andrea won a Texas State Reading Association Golden Spur Award. She lives in Houston, Texas. She is the wife of Bill White, former Mayor of Houston.

In order to have anything signed at a BookPeople event, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. If you purchase your book from BookPeople in advance of the event, please save your receipt and present it at the event.

Thank you for supporting Andrea White, and your local independent bookstore!
