How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

Our industry presents many publishing options and business models for authors, each with its own set of pros and cons. This class will walk you through the industry and give you the tools to choose the best path for your project. Plus, you will gain a basic understanding of what it takes to create and market content to succeed in retail book sales. Join us to learn the ins and outs of traditional publishing, self-publishing, print-on-demand, eBooks and digital publishing, and hybrid models, as well as how to avoid publishing pitfalls along the way.
