How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

Hugo-winner Dan Simmons became a staff favorite with The Terror and
Drood, and he’s back with another thriller, Black Hills. The novel is at
once a historical fiction and a sci fi novel, which is not that easy to do
well, but Simmons once again delivers a novel full of suspense and
complexities that keep you reading long into the night. As General Custer
lies dying on the battlefield, his ghost enters the body of Paha Sapa, a
young Sioux warrior. Custer’s ghost speaks to Paha Sapa for the rest of his
life, and Simmons takes us through the American West with these two
diverging characters. BookPeople highly recommends this event, tonight at
7PM.
