BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.
To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?
For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.
Dennis Tafoya, author of the new crime novel The Wolves of Fairmount Park, is bringing his 30-minute Crime Writing Workshop to BookPeople. Tafoya will read selections from his own and others' works, trying in a few minutes to put across how successful crime authors follow the conventions - or break them. Tafoya will lead the workshop in a short, guided writing exercise, and will read some of the work to the class. Come one, come all to this rare opportunity to learn from a fantastic and accomplished author.
