How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the publication of To Kill A Mockingbird. Almost from that first date, this book has been widely read and loved by people across the globe. Required reading in thousands of schools around the country, everyone knows the story of Scout and Atticus, and we are all the better for it. Join us for a celebration tonight, as we invite some of Austin's literary minds to read passages from the book and talk about what it has meant to them.
