How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

NEW FICTION DOUBLE HEADER

Tim Welch is a popular history teacher. His wife, Kate, is not
inherently ordinary. But she aspires to be. They are seemingly the last
middle-class family in the Heights, whose world is turned upside down by
Anna Brody, the new neighbor who moves into the most expensive brownstone in
Brooklyn, sending the local society into a tailspin. Peter Hedges, author
of What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, brings us his first novel in a decade.
Tonight at 7PM.

Then, at 8PM:

When you hear about Chris Cleave’s novel Little Bee, you really
shouldn’t learn too much about it. Let it open up magically around you, and
experience the story of a Nigerian orphan (who calls herself Little Bee) for
yourself. BookPeople loves this novel, and you should too. Tonight at 8PM.
