How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

It's all here: Inept flirtations. Dumb crushes. Deplorable fashion choices. Members Only jackets. And girls, every last one of whom seems to be madly in love with the bassist of Duran Duran. Rob Sheffield won our hearts with the wonderfully sad and romantic book Love is a Mix Tape, and his coming-of-age story is one that we all know, with a playlist that any child of the eighties or anyone who just loves music will sing along with. These songs – and Sheffield's writing – will remind readers of that first kiss, that first car, and the moments that shaped their lives.
