How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

ROBERT JACKSON BENNETT - The Troupe

  • Adult Event

 Award Winning Author
ROBERT JACKSON BENNETT
will speak & sign his new novel,
The Troupe.

Already given a starred review by Publisher's Weekly, Bennett's new novel The Troupe tells the story of George Carole, a run-away who joins the Vaudeville circuit. Sixteen years old, uncommonly gifted at the piano, he falls in with a strange troupe -- even for Vaudeville. Under the watchful eye of the enigmatic figure of Silenus, George comes to realize that the members of the troupe are more than they appear to be. And their travels have a purpose that runs deeper than entertainment.

George must uncover the mysteries of Silenus's Company before it is too late. He is already entangled in their web of secrets and if he doesn't learn where they are taking him, he may never find his way out.

Robert Jackson Bennett was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but grew up in Katy, Texas. He later attended the University of Texas at Austin and, like a lot of its alumni, was unable to leave the charms of the city and resides there currently. His is also the author of the novels Mr. Shivers, for which he won the 2011 Shirley Jackson Award, and The Company Man.

In order to have anything signed at a BookPeople event, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. If you purchase your book in advance of the event, please save your receipt and present it at the event.

Thank you for supporting Robert Jackson Bennett, and your local independent bookstore!
