How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

Reading fiction to escape reality is a great way to unwind, but exploring reality can sometimes be even more rewarding. These books aren’t about fictional characters or locales. They don’t happen in a far away land or make believe place. They are stories of our world, of our journeys, of reality and our perception of it. We’ll be reading books that range from botany to black holes and, trust me, it’s stranger than fiction. This month’s book is Half the Sky by Nicholas Kristof.
